Like a paper grocery list? This gadget is for you.

P1050226There are dozens of list apps that allow you to use your desktop computer, smartphone or tablet to create grocery lists. The advantage of this lists is because they are digital they can be updated from any of your devices. But take a look around you the next time you are in the grocery store, most people are using paper lists even if they are carrying a smartphone in the other hand.

P1050213The SmartShopper Electronic Grocery List Organizer is just the ticket for those of you who manage a large grocery list but still prefer paper. SmartShopper has a sort of retro look to it much like an old calculator with a text only screen…no fancy graphics here.

The SmartShopper has powerful magnets so it will stick solidly to your (non-stainless) refrigerator door and any member of the family can add to the list by simply talking to it.

The SmartShopper comes with an inventory of 2500 common items and tasks but you will almost find some things you buy are not in the memory, no Nachos for example. You can add items but it is a pretty painful process of using the arrow keys to spell out the item. Speech to text would be a nice feature but that would likely raise the price.

I used the SmartShopper for a couple of weeks and found it worked pretty well, sometimes I had to repeat an item because the device didn’t understand me but for the most part it got things in its internal memory on the first try.

When you are ready to go shopping simply press print and your list is sorted by category and printed on thermal paper, so no ink cartridges are needed.

You can buy the SmartShopper online for $149.95, spare paper rolls are available from the same store.
