Is Videotron starting a mobile price war in Quebec?

head-videotron-logo-yellow-enVideotron seems to have put the cat among the pigeons today with the launch of 5 new all-inclusive mobile price plans that all feature unlimited messaging (text, photo, video), voice mail, call display and unlimited calling between Videotron customers.

At the bottom end you can get unlimited texting for 20 bucks and at the top unlimited everything plus 1GB of data for 50 bucks.

Videotron says it is offering simplified and enhanced plans aimed at both light and power users. “In view of our determination to constantly make life easier for customers and offer them a mobile telephone experience that is among the best, we have decided to go for simplicity,” said Manon Brouillette, President, Consumer Market. “Our new pricing structure with five Mobile plans enhances our existing plans and gives customers more.”

That may be the case but Videotron has also thrown down the gauntlet and the other carriers are going to have to do something to counter this new pricing. What do you think?
