I have tried just about every shopping list app known to man on my iPhone. Some are too basic, others too complicated none worked for me. Until that is, I found AnyList..a free download from the app store. The free version of the app is good looking and easy to use. Adding items is simple and they are sorted into the correct department, if the app can’t figure out what category the item falls into it is a simple process to add a new category. As you are shopping all you have to do when you put the item in the cart it to tap it and it is crossed out on the list. AnyList offers a ton of organization tools. There are lists of Recent Items and Favorites so they can be quickly added to a new list. Starter Lists are especially helpful. You can create a lit of items need for a special occasion such as a family barbecue which can be added to the main list when required. There is also a recipe function that will extract items fro the recipe and them to the shopping list. Now all of these things make for a gangbuster app but still it doesn’t answer all my needs. I absolutely need a list when I shop but I hate making lists..so my wife is in charge of that job. Unfortunately she doesn’t have an iPhone so the list sharing function doesn’t work for us. However, a $12 In-App-Purchase upgrades AnyList to the complete version which includes cross platform sharing via a web app. This means that my wife can prepare the shopping list on her PC and it is instantly synced with my iPhone. She can also add items to the list while I am shopping which is a lot faster than a phone call to tell me to add something to the list. AnyList is a flexible and easy to use app that will fit most needs and the extra features in the Complete version make it my favorite Grocery List app.
