Cool Headset For That Special Valentine

Beats Solo 2 WirelessHow about a uber cool heart red bluetooth headset for your special Valentine? Look no further than the Solo 2 Wireless headset from Beats by Dr. Dre. While it is the first headset to be released since the takeover by Apple it was in development well before Apple came on board.

The Solo 2 Wireless is identical physically and has identical audio quality as the wired Beats Solo 2 headset released last year. The only physical difference is a slightly larger ear cup to accommodate the extra electronics and battery. They come in Black, white blue and my favourite Valentine Heart Red.

No question this is the best looking headset in this price range and clearly identifies you as officially hip by those who see you wearing it. The controls are on off switch on the right earpad with a series of LEDs showing charge level. You get about 12 hours on a charge and if you run the battery down it comes with a cord for unlimited listening. On the left earpad are touch controls for audio, and taking phone calls. I was blown away by how well it worked making phone calls.

I was impressed with the quality of this headset which although it is mostly plastic to keep the weight down, it feels durable and looks to be able to take a beating in everyday use. It folds up and stows in the included carrying case. I found it comfortable to wear if a tad on the snug side..the snugness keeps it in place when running or exercising. I had no comfort issues while watching a full length movie.

Now to the meat of the issue…how is the audio on this admittedly expensive but cool headset..that b logo has a price..For many, beats means overpriced, bass-heavy headphones. Well the company has changed that with the Solo 2 series of headsets. The bass has been toned down and I find the sound has a modern energetic and balanced feel that sounds good with all genres of music..electronic sounds really good. While audio quality is such a personal thing I think most of you will like the sound that comes from this great looking set of cans.

The exchange on the dollar jacks the Canadian price up to a nosebleed level of $329.95 which is at least $50 more than most of the competition..that’s what you are paying for the cool look and of course that b logo. I was prepared to pay the price.
